QR code is quite popular today. We see them everywhere. Ever curious how QR code works and how we can create them?

How to create a qr code

S tanding for “Quick Response code”, QR code is a code that is quickly readable by a cell phone (taking only 1–2 seconds to be processed). It has a wide range of uses across all types of industries such as retail, marketing, and logistics. QR code is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed in 1994 for the automotive industry in Japan, that used four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, and kanji) to store data efficiently (extensions may also be used). When we look at it, we see black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by an imaging device such as a camera, and processed using Reed–Solomon error correction until the image can be appropriately interpreted. The required data is then extracted from patterns that are present in both horizontal and vertical components of the image.

While QR Codes and Barcodes are similar in practice, QR Codes contain more information because they have the ability to hold information both horizontally and vertically. Barcodes only use horizontal information. While Barcodes work wonderfully for situations like scanning supermarket items, QR Codes have a much higher capability of transferring information, likely what has made them increasingly popular due to their versatility.

An easy approach would be to go to a website or mobile application that has the functionality support users to create QR code. The sites or mobile application can be :

The version parameter is an integer from 1 to 40 that controls the size of the QR Code (the smallest, version 1, is a 21×21 matrix). Set to None and use the fit parameter when making the code to determine this automatically.

fill_color and back_color can change the background and the painting color of the QR, when using the default image factory.

The error_correction parameter controls the error correction used for the QR Code. The following four constants are made available on the QRcode package:

The box_size parameter controls how many pixels each “box” of the QR code is.

The border parameter controls how many boxes thick the border should be (the default is 4, which is the minimum according to the specs).

Running the above code will generate the QR code looks like :

That’s exactly why Bitly QR Codes have so much utility. You can instantly generate a QR code that is trackable for any of your Bitly links to bridge offline content to online experiences. Place them virtually anywhere and extend the shelf life of printed content.

Before we learn how to make a QR code for website linking, let’s first take a closer look at what they are.

What is a QR Code?

A QR Code, short for Quick Response Code, is a symbol that someone scans with a mobile device that drives them from offline content to online experiences such as calls to action for store purchases, more product/service information, sign-ups, and more. Although they’ve been around for a while, the prevalence of advanced smartphones combined with the pandemic created a need for a more contactless experiences which led to increased interest in how to get a QR code and their overall uses. Learn more about the rise of the QR code in the pandemic.

In Bitly, a QR Code contains a short link you’ve created via our code generator. When someone scans your code with a mobile device, they’ll be able to open your link in their mobile web browser. Every time someone does this, Bitly captures the action like clicks on your Bitly links and reflects it in your link metrics.

Depending on which plan you have, you may have more choices in how to make a QR code and your ability to customize its design in the Bitly QR code generator:

  • Print either a Bitly-branded or a generic QR code.
  • Customize the color of the QR code to match your company colors or to spice up your printed materials.
  • Download it in either an SVG or PNG format which is really helpful if you want to scale it up or down in size.

How to Create a QR Code in Bitly

1 – In Bitly, go to All Links or Custom Links and select a link.

2 – Click “QR Code” to generate your code.

3 – Test your code with your phone or tablet camera.

4 – Depending on your plan, you may have the option to change the color of the QR code. Click the color picker to select a color or enter a hex, RGB, or HSL color code.

5 – Depending on your plan, you may have the option to remove the Bitly logo when making a QR code to get a generic version. To remove the Bitly logo, click on “Show Bitly Logo” so that it is unchecked. Simply click it again to add the Bitly logo back.

6 – Depending on your plan, you may have the option to make your own QR Code. Click the pulldown on “Select File Type” and click on whichever format you prefer.

7 – After creating a QR code, download it by right-clicking the code image and selecting “Copy” or clicking the “Download” button.

8 – Paste or upload the image where you’d like the code to be displayed (e.g. a document).

Bitly QR Codes are dynamic, meaning you have the flexibility to change the link to the QR code and where they point to. All you have to do is redirect the link and your QR Code destination will update, too. Voila! Your QR Codes then point to all new content so you never have to worry that expensive offline assets become outdated.

Viewing Your QR Code Metrics

One of the best things about QR Codes is that you can place them anywhere – print media, billboards, storefronts, stickers, t-shirts, tattoos, you name it – to connect your users back to your online experience.

Plus, they are an ideal match for mobile deep linking. With a mobile device already in hand to scan QR links, you can easily direct a customer to either install or open your app.

When someone scans a QR Code for your website, it’s tracked as a click. Bitly breaks down your referral traffic by channel, so you can see how your QR Code is performing up against channels like email and social media.

If you want to dive deeper into your metrics, you can export your data on link clicks and QR Code scans at any time.

Bitly QR Codes open up a host of opportunities to help your business move closer to making its mobile-first marketing goals a reality. It is believed that large companies and brands are using QR codes to engage customers, but a small company can also create a customized QR code — it is easy, fast, and no big investment required.

What is a QR code?

The term, QR code, stands for a “quick response” code due to its lightness and speed. This is a type of bar code represented by symbols consisting of black pixels on a white square. It can be read using the app on your smartphone in order to get some information.
It is a tool connecting the real and virtual world and it is usually placed on concert posters, product packages, stickers, and street sidewalks. The QR may transmit links, coupons, product information and other useful information for consumers.

QR code VS Linear code

Whether it’s a linear code or a QR code, each has its own functions and features, so we put together a review of their three major differences:

Orientation. A linear code involves reading information in one direction — horizontal whereas a QR code refers to the so-called two-dimensional codes. Their decoding is made in two directions – both horizontal and vertical.

Information scope. Linear codes are designed to convey a small amount of information, as they were originally designed to simplify workflows. On the contrary, QR codes are directed towards the transmission of much larger volumes.

Type of information. With the help of linear codes, the inventory process, monitoring of goods, flow of documents and identification of products had simplified.

While QR-codes can be used on a large scale, for example, during excursions and encrypting information about tourist sites. Therefore, it is impossible to say for sure which of these two types of codes is better, it all depends on the task you want to complete.

How does a QR code work?

Originally developed in Japan by Denso Wave in order to track the inventory of spare parts in the factory, after its release, marketers adopted QR codes for more usage. Mainly because of its bulk storage and the ability to translate additional information for consumers beyond the standard product packaging.
Such a code is photographed using the device’s built-in camera, which decrypts it using a pre-installed application.

Why should you add a logo to your QR Code?

By using your logo as the image of the QR code, you will link it to your company both visually and informatively, attracting more customers.

Be sure to use a clear and sharp logo and place it in the center of the code. This way, you can make it easier for customers to read the elements of the code itself. Your Logo should complement the code, and do not interfere with its scanning.

How to create a QR code with a logo:

There are various options for creating QR codes with logo. The most affordable and simple way is online QR code generator.
Here’s a selection of services that will allow you to make QR codes with logo in just a couple of minutes.

QR Code Monkey

QR Code Monkey is a popular free QR code generator. To create a QR code, you just need to follow a few simple steps to:

  • add the URL of your site
  • Select the color of the code
  • Fit the design code
  • Download your logo. This is done in order for the code to be scanned normally.
  • Generate the code and save in the desired format.

As a result, you get a code that can be used in just a couple of minutes.

Unitag QR Code generator

Unitag Is another QR code generating software that provides the ability to create, manage and track codes with custom colors and logos. It is a simple and cost-effective software for creating intelligent codes tailored to all needs, with dynamic target content. In addition, you can customize the design and URLs and get HD codes.
Steps of code generation are done similarly to QR Monkey.

QR Code Pro is an online generator that offers a wide range of color palettes and the ability to add your own logo. The mechanism of the creation process is similar to the other services from the list, but the functionality is slightly simplified.

How to create a qr code

QR codes have been around for a long time, but they’ve recently become a much more popular way for businesses of all sizes to generate sales and conduct business on the Internet without physical contact. QR codes are an inexpensive, easy to use marketing tool. In this post, we’ll walk through the basics of QR codes and discuss how they can be used to connect to customers of your small business on the Internet.

What Is a QR Code?

A QR code, which stands for ‘Quick Response’, is a barcode that someone can scan to quickly receive information. QR codes typically come in a square shape with angled markers. A single code can contain up to 5,000 characters – enough for a URL address, email address, or more.

Businesses can generate QR codes and add them to marketing materials or other collateral share information with customers or prospects. For example, if you own a restaurant, you could place a QR code on your tables that contain a link to your online menu. When a customer sits down, all they have to do is open their camera app on their phone and scan the QR code. When they do this, the camera will recognize and read the code and send them to the menu on the Internet for small business customers.

How to Create a QR Code

Creating a QR code is so easy that you will be wondering why you didn’t make one sooner.

Decide How You Plan to Use a QR Code

Before you generate a QR code, think through how you plan to use the code. What are your goals and what information do you hope to share? Many businesses use QR codes for marketing. For example, you may want to place a QR code to an ad so customers can scan and learn more information about your business. You could also create a Wi-Fi QR code that users can scan and join your business Internet Wi-Fi network. This is much easier than having to manually add in a password. You could even create a QR code that directs a user to Google Maps and gives them directions to your small business.

Find a QR Code Generator

Once you decide on your goals, you can generate your QR code for your small business. There are many different generators that you can find on the Internet for small business operations. Free QR code generators are a great place to start if you’re just starting out. Here are a few of the most popular free QR code generators:

Enter Information and Customize the QR Code

Once you’ve selected your tool, you can add in the information you want to share with your customers. You can also customize the look and feel of the QR code. For example, you can add your brand colors to the code, add your logo, and even customize the shape.

Once you’ve finalized your code, make sure to test it to ensure that it’s directing users to the correct location. Most QR code generators allow you to preview the code before you download it.

Download Your QR Code

Once you’ve tested your code, you can download it to your computer. When downloading, make sure to save it in the correct format depending on where you’re planning to use the code. If it’s going on the web, jpeg, jpg, and png formats will work well. If you’re using the code for print, make sure to select a higher resolution format. Typically, svg and eps files work best for print.

Whether you’re using your code on the web or you’re printing it, make sure it’s not blurry so a QR code reader can quickly and easily read the code.

After you download your code, you can add it to promotional materials, business cards, emails, or any other location. Make sure that it’s highly visible and reaching your target audience.

QR codes are an easy, inexpensive, and effective way to share information with your small business customers. Now that they’re becoming more popular, the majority of customers will know how to use them. Get started, experiment, and learn as you go.

QR codes are machine readable printed representation of data for various industry uses. It has now become common in consumer advertising. A consumer with a Smartphone can install an app with a QR code scanner that can read and decode the URL information and redirect the phone’s browser to a company website.

After scanning QR codes, users may receive text, add a business card contact to their devices, open a Web hyperlink, or compose an email or text message.

You can now generate and edit high quality independent QR code graphics from within InDesign. The generated QR code is a high-fidelity graphic object that behaves exactly like native vector art in InDesign. You can easily scale the object and fill it with colors. You can also apply effects, transparency, and printing attributes, such as overprinting, spot inks, and trappings to the object. You can copy-paste the code graphic as a vector graphic object into a standard graphics editor tool such as Adobe Illustrator.

Generate QR code

From the menu, choose Object > Generate QR Code . The Generate QR Code dialog box is displayed.

How to create a qr code

The Generate/Edit QR Code dialog box has two tabs – Content and Color .

In the Content tab, select any one of the following data types in the Type drop-down list:

  • Web Hyperlink
  • Plain Text
  • Text Message
  • Email
  • Business Card

Based on the selected type, one or more fields are displayed to provide the content for which you want to generate the QR code.

The Color tab shows Swatch List . If you want to apply a specific color to the QR code, switch to the Color tab and select a specific color. By default, the generated QR code is Black with transparent background.

If you have selected a Frame before generating the QR code, the code is placed directly in the selected Frame replacing its content.

If you have not selected a frame, the QR code is loaded on the Place Gun and you can place it just like a traditional EPS object:

  • Clicking inside the document places the object in its original/default size – 30 X 30 (cm units).
  • Clicking into an existing frame places the code inside the frame with default size. (It replaces its existing content if you click in the frame with the Alt key pressed.)
  • Click and dragging draws a new frame with fixed aspect ratio and releasing the mouse places the code inside the frame.

Once placed inside a document, the QR code is treated as a traditional EPS object, except that a tooltip appears on hovering over the object, revealing the content details in the form of the embedded code.

It is easy to generate QR codes in spreadsheets using a special IMAGE() formula.

Start by putting your data in the first column of the spreadsheet. We’ll call this column QR data. It can contain a URL to your website, or any other text. You can include variables such as utm_source and utm_campaign – the QR reader on modern phones can handle pretty much anything.

How to create a qr code

Next, enter the following formula for the first row in column B, which we’ll label Image:

Google Sheets will render the QR code based on the data provided in cell A2:

To generate a QR code for every row in the spreadsheet, copy the formula to each row:

How to create a qr code

That’s it! You should be able to scan one of these QR codes with your phone.

Use our template

To make things easier, we’ve created a Google Sheets QR code template. This spreadsheet automatically generates QR codes for URLs and other data you put in Column A.

Open the sheet and go to File > Make a copy in order copy to your own Google Drive and start generating QR codes.

How to create a qr code

Customize the QR code

The QR codes we’ve seen so far are very basic. Did you know you can customize your QR code’s size, color, and margins? To customize the appearance of your QR code, start with the QR code builder and create a custom QR code.

You’ll notice that the generated QR code has size, margin, dark, and light parameters in the URL. Add these parameters to the QR code formula in the spreadsheet in order to customize your QR codes.

Further customization is described by the QR code documentation.

How to create a qr code

Quick Response or QR codes were popular even before the coronavirus pandemic, but now they’re everywhere: from restaurant menus and tickets, to billboards and adverts.

These square codes are quick and easy to use, and since Android and iOS users can scan QR codes with their phone’s default camera, people don’t need any special software or update to make use of your code. On top of that, QR codes require no physical contact for you to interact with them, so it’s not surprising that they’re now taking off.

If you’ve ever wanted to make your own QR codes, know that it doesn’t require any great degree of technical know-how or a huge amount of time. You just need the right app and the content you want to encode, which will be formatted differently depending on how you’re using the black and white pattern.

What you can do with QR codes

QR codes can store around 4,000 characters of text, which can be anything from a plain message to a link to follow or a file to download. These graphics are most commonly used to store website URLs, so people usually use them to redirect customers to their company website, their bar’s drinks list, or their new app.

But these patterns can do even more than that. You can encode your contact details in a QR code, for example, and print it on your business card. That way, every time someone scans it, all of the details you’ve shared will pop up in their default contacts app, ready to be saved.

If you’re running a live gig venue, you could have a QR code printed on the bottom of posters advertising future shows, which will take people directly to the website where they can buy tickets.

On a more simple level, you might want to create a QR code that includes login details for the Wi-Fi network in your home or Airbnb rental. Guests could scan the code on entry, which would connect them up to the wireless internet without any need to search for a network name or input a password.

It only takes a minute to generate QR codes for these simple uses. There are more advanced ways to use these patterns, like logging directly into websites or apps, for example. They require some programming skill and specific coding, so if that’s what you want to do, you’ll need to do more digging.

How to make your own QR codes

Plenty of web and mobile apps will happily generate QR codes for you. There are no great differences between most, and to a certain extent, any of them will do for your QR code-generating needs.

QR Code Monkey is one of the slickest and most versatile options we’ve come across, supporting QR codes for websites, social media profiles, email addresses, Wi-Fi codes, app store links, and more. To get started, choose the type of content you want to embed into your QR code (text, link, or whatever), and the input fields will change accordingly. Put your data in the Enter content section, then click Create QR Code to generate the graphic.

The Set colors option lets you change the hues of the QR code, while under the Customize design heading you’re able to tweak the look of the barcode. The Add logo image section, meanwhile, lets you add your company logo in the center—this won’t affect the readability of the code, which will still scan as normal.

Use the slider underneath the QR code that you’ve generated to choose how big the finished graphic is going to be, then click Download PNG to save it to your disk. You can then use the code wherever you like, for free—it won’t have an expiry date.

For serious commercial use, you can find more advanced QR code makers. Take a look at QR Code Generator, for example, which starts at €120 euros (about $145) a year. This is a steep price to pay, but for your money you get advanced graphic design features and analytics, including how many times people scan your QR code per day.

Plenty of mobile solutions are available as well. As with web apps, there’s a lot to choose from but we’ll just highlight QRbot for Android and iOS. The app is lightweight, simple to use, and it does double duty as an advanced QR code reader as well.

To create a new QR code through the app, tap Create and then choose the type of barcode you want to make. The app will prompt you to add the required information like the website URL or contact details, and your QR code will then appear on the screen. Tap PNG to save it. The QR code generator is free to use, though you can pay a one-off $7 fee to remove ads inside the app and get extra features including an unlimited number of QR code scans.

Using QR codes for songs is a great way to quickly and conveniently distribute your music to an audience. Of course, if you are an expert in music but not so much in tech or marketing, you might not understand how to use QR codes for songs. Not to worry! It’s quite easy to use this technology for your needs, and we’ll explain the process in detail below.

How to create a qr code

What Kind of QR Codes Should I Use for a Song?

The first thing to understand in this process is that there are different kinds of information that you can attach to QR codes. Knowing the various options for QR codes will help you decide which are best for your needs as a musician trying to distribute your work to the world.

  • URL codes. If you have a website for your music, a QR code is a great way to send people to that website without asking them to remember a web address. URL QR codes for songs are simply codes that are connected to a specific website — the user will be taken to that site as soon as they scan the code. Once the user lands on our site, they’ll be presented with all of your information and hopefully, they’ll become a new fan.
  • Social media links. As a musician, you are almost certainly using social media to spread the word about your work. These platforms are a great place to publish music, connect with the audience and other artists, and more. Whether you favor Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or a combination thereof, you can use QR codes to direct your audience to these pages. One useful idea is to print out cards with your QR code and make those available at any shows you play. That will give your audience a simple way to land on your social accounts, and they can follow you if they are interested in learning more.

Location codes. This idea might not be your primary use for QR codes, but it could be helpful to get more people to your shows. If you have a local following on social media and are playing a show in the area, create a location code and share it on your social channels. With that code, your fans can do a quick scan and instantly get directions to where you’ll be playing. This is a more streamlined experience as compared to asking those fans to track down directions on their own. Since codes are so quick and easy to make, you can complete this task and load the new code to your social accounts in just a matter of moments.

How to Make QR Codes for Songs

Making QR codes for your songs is as easy as visiting our Free QR Code Generator and making a few quick selections. When you land on the page for this tool, you’ll first need to pick the type of code you want to create — including the options we discussed above. Then, on the next page, you can add the relevant information for the code, pick your colors, and add a logo. After those steps, your code will be available, and you can save it to your device to share or print later.

Should I Use a QR Code for My Music?

Creating QR codes for music is an excellent piece to add to your overall marketing effort. Just creating these codes alone won’t help people find your music, of course, as they need to be used in places where they will be found and scanned. It’s the convenience of QR codes on the user’s end that makes them so appealing, so think about where you can use them to more effectively spread the word about your music.

A good starting point is creating a code that links to your favorite social media account. Growing a social following is a powerful way for musicians to reach new audiences, but it’s notoriously difficult to gain followers on those competitive platforms. If you have a code handy that takes anyone with a smartphone right to your social account, you will be making it as easy as possible for them to follow you. Once you start to find some success with this first QR code, you can branch out to other types, as necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I attach my music directly to a QR code?

No. QR codes are designed to hold very little information — only up to about 3 KB of data. Needless to say, that’s not nearly enough room to save a song and pass it along to your audience. So, instead of including the music directly in the QR code, you’ll want to use this opportunity to provide your audience with a link to some asset or resource where they can explore your songs, albums, etc.

Will my audience know how to use a QR code to find my music?

QR codes have reached a level of popularity where most smartphone users will understand that the code can be scanned using their camera. Smartphone users of an older generation may not be as familiar with this technology, but the average musician is likely marketing to a younger crowd. As long as you create QR codes for songs that link directly to known platforms like a website or social media channel, you should be able to find good results with this approach.

Are QR codes free to use?

Yes! You can generate QR codes for songs without any charge by using our free QR Code Generator. For the musician who is on a tight budget while trying to get started in the industry, free marketing methods are always welcomed. And, not only can you create QR codes for free but there is no charge associated with having those codes be used. Each code can be scanned as many times as needed without you ever having to pay a penny. If you are tired of running into marketing options that are outside of your budget restrictions, QR codes for songs are a nice opportunity.

Do QR codes have an expiration date?

No — any given QR code will continue to work for as long as you would like to use it. With that said, it’s important to make sure all of your codes remain relevant and link to assets that are current. For example, if you used to use a social media platform that you have decided to move on from, don’t continue to pass out a QR code that links to the old page. You can always create new codes when you need to update your marketing materials.

What is a QR Code?

A QR Code is essentially a kind of magnetic barcode first developed in Japan for the car industry in 1994. A magnetic code is simply a machine-readable pattern that contains pertinent information about an object to which it’s attached. This makes it a unique kind of code that stands out from traditional barcodes and can be used in conjunction with special smart phones to give access to content or services.

So, what exactly are these QR Codes? They’re a series of alphanumeric characters which are encrypted in a way that only they can decipher (hence the name).

They are decoded using an algorithm that scrambles the code into a form that the receiver of the code can understand. Theoretically, anyone with a smart phone, a laptop, an Internet connection and a browser can read them and the information contained can be interpreted by their respective smart phones or computers.

The nice thing about QR Codes is that they allow people to share and distribute the information in such a way that it increases their network effect. For example, if you have a business and you want potential clients to know about it, you can have your employees go around with printed out QR Codes.

People then can scan the QR Code and then send it back to you through the means of their smartphones. In a way, you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on expensive advertisements, instead people can tell others about your product by simply sharing the information with their peers!

What is a QR Code generator?

If you’re interested in learning what is a QR Code maker, there are a lot of things to keep in mind. You have to be familiar with how to use one to get a quick result. They are used by online businesses, and some of those businesses offer QR Codes for readers to use on their websites. By having a QR Code on your website you will have access to a lot more traffic. There are a lot of different types of QR Codes. You can find ones with basic formatting, and even ones that are a combination of both. You can add your business name or the tagline of your business to the bottom of the code, making it easier for your readers to identify your business with just a few clicks.

How to scan a QR Code ?

One of the most exciting things about smartphones is their ability to perform tasks such as searching the internet or reading e-books or you can use our QR Code scanner . So, how to scan a QR Code? This is actually pretty simple. All you need is an app for your smartphone and you are on your way to enjoying scanning all the QR Codes that are available out there.
Once you have a QR Code viewer installed on your mobile, you are ready to scan at least your first QR Code. Doing this is actually very easy. All you need to do is hold your mobile device above a QR Code in the screen and then tap on it. This will start scanning the code. Now this works exactly like how to scan a URL or an e-mail address.

QR Code and business :

However, there is much more to these programs and their ability to make great use of analytics for websites. For one, the phone itself has a QR Code in the form of an icon, which can be captured by scanners. This icon can then be used in conjunction with a URL address to access the rest of the site or page. Through this method, the scanner no longer needs to have a smartphone in order to perform this action.

This means that QR Code creators are not necessarily only for smart phones. In fact, it would seem that they are becoming a primary way for businesses and organizations to market to their target audience in a new way that makes use of the capabilities of smartphones.

Why you should create a QR Code for your business?

If you have a website you should definitely include a QR Code as they make it very easy for people to find your site. Every website should include a QR Code. The idea of a QR Code is that when a customer scans a code and reads the little barcode symbol they will have the option to get further information about your business.

There are many different uses for a QR Code. For instance, a local business can use them to promote their local area. They can print these codes on items they sell so that whenever someone walks by, they can get an idea of how to use your service. This helps customers to get a better understanding of how you run your business and will generally increase their interest in doing business with you.

How to create a qr code

In the near future, you’ll be able to print and use QR codes with your smartphone or tablet and use them to purchase something in a shop or to sign up for a virtual conference.

In a way, the future of QR codes looks like this: You’re scanning an image and then a QR code appears on the screen.

The code shows you the price, which is automatically converted into a QR string, and you can either scan in an exact match or you can use a code that matches a particular word, a symbol or a picture.

This new technology can be used to easily print out a QR sticker that looks exactly like a real QR code.

And for those who are still in the dark, here’s how it works: You’ll need a QR reader or scanner.

QR codes can be printed using any type of scanner.

There are different types of scanners, but the most common one is a scanner that scans QR codes using a laser.

The QR code that appears on your screen will appear as a large square with a small QR code underneath.

You can scan in that QR code, which in turn is converted into an exact scan of the code.

So for example, if you have a QR-code for a shopping website, you can scan the website QR code and then convert that into a scanned QR code for your smartphone.

The QR-codes you scan will also be able be sent to an e-commerce website that will convert it into a real price.

What you see above is just one of many QR-scanner options that QR-reader technology will offer, including a laser scanner, scanner that allows you to scan in exact matches, and scanner that can use QR code scans to print out QR codes.

One of the biggest issues with QR codes is that the software for scanning them is pretty buggy.

The scanners can be slow, or the software will fail to scan the QR code correctly, or they may only work with certain QR codes, such as those that you scan manually or those that are printed from a printer.

A few months ago, Google introduced a new version of its QR-reading software, which was designed to speed up the scanning process.

But for the time being, you need to download the software and use the software to scan QR codes manually.

So what do you do when you’re trying to scan a QR Code manually?

QR code scanners can’t help you.

The software will automatically scan the code into a scanner, but it won’t let you add the code to your phone or send the code anywhere.

So if you want to add a new QR code to a QR address, you will need to enter the code manually.

QR codes are also difficult to convert to other types of codes, including ones that are automatically printed by e-Commerce websites.

QR code scanning requires you to use a special tool, called a QR Scanner, that you can download from

QR scanners can help you scan a code using the same scanner, or you may need to buy QR-scanners for a particular type of QR code you want.

If you’re not sure which QR-Scanner is right for you, you may want to contact your local hardware store and try to find a QR scanner that you think works for you.

QR codes are easy to scan, and QR-Scanners are easy.

They are great for the most part, and there are many QR Scanners available for your phone, but you can always try a QR scan with a QR Scanners for QR codes or even QR-printing software.

QR-prints are great, too.

QR prints are an easy way to convert a QR QR code into another type of code, including the ones you can send to your e-shop or to a website.

QR printings can also help you to create QR codes for a store or for a product.

QR printers are also easy to use.

QR Scans are also good for scanning QR codes in your home or office, and it’s a good idea to scan them at home and at work.

How to create a qr code

In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to generate QR codes in Angular 10 by building a simple example application.

But first of all, what’s a QR code and what does it do?

A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed in 1994 for the automotive industry in Japan.

A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that contains information about the item to which it is attached.

In practice, QR codes often contain data for a locator, identifier, or tracker that points to a website or application.

A QR code uses four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, and kanji) to store data efficiently.

So it’s simply a compact and efficient way of storing data.

Now let’s see how to generate QR codes in your Angular 10 apps by creating an example.

Before getting started you need a few prerequisites:

  • Basic knowledge of TypeScript. Particularly the familiarity with Object Oriented concepts such as TypeScript classes and decorators.
  • A local development machine with Node 10+, together with NPM 6+ installed.

Node is required by the Angular CLI like the most front end tools nowadays. You can simply go to the downloads page of the official website and download the binaries for your operating system.

You can also refer to your specific system instructions for how to install Node using a package manager. The recommended way though is using NVM — Node Version Manager — a POSIX-compliant bash script to manage multiple active Node.js versions.

Note: Don’t want to install a local environment for Angular development but still want to try the code in this tutorial? You can use Stackblitz, an online IDE for frontend development that lets you create an Angular project compatible with the Angular CLI.

Step 1 — Installing Angular CLI 10

In this step, we’ll install the latest Angular CLI 10 (at the time of writing this tutorial).

Angular CLI is the official tool for initializing and working with Angular projects. To install it, open a new command-line interface and run the following command:

At the time of writing, angular/cli v10 will be installed on your system.

Step 2 — Creating a New Angular 10 App

Let’s now create our project. Head back to your command-line interface and run the following commands:

The CLI will ask you a couple of questions:

  • Would you like to add Angular routing? Type y for Yes, and
  • Which stylesheet format would you like to use? Choose CSS.

Next, navigate to you project’s folder and run the local development server using the following commands:

Open your web browser and navigate to the http://localhost:4200/ address to see your app running.

Next, open a new terminal and make sure to navigate to your project’s folder and run the following command to install the ngx-qrcode library from npm using the following command:

Next open the src/app/app.module.ts file, and import NgxQRCodeModule from @techiediaries/ngx-qrcode in your module as follows:

Once the library has been imported, you can use the ngx-qrcode component in your Angular application.

Please note that we have also imported the FormsModule .

How to create a qr code

  • You can create a QR code using a QR generator or by selecting the “Share” option in the Google Chrome mobile app.
  • QR codes have a variety of uses, for both personal and professional means.
  • QR codes can direct people to a specific website, or an uploaded image or document.

QR codes – or “Quick Response” codes – are square-shaped barcodes that can be scanned by mobile devices. They are used for a variety of applications, from pulling up a restaurant menu to directing people to a podcast.

QR codes can also be used in wedding invitations to direct guests to the wedding website, where they can RSVP and find information on the venue, hotel options, and the registry.

Creating a QR code is a relatively straightforward process, and it can be done on a computer or on your smartphone. Here’s how it’s done.

How to create a QR code with QR Code Generator

There are many QR code generators to choose from. Here’s a step-by-step guide using a website called QR Code Generator.

1. Using any web browser, go to the QR Code Generator website.

2. Enter the URL of the website you want the QR code to send people to. Alternatively, you can also enter text or upload a file (perhaps to a flyer you designed or to a restaurant menu).

3. Optional: You can also select a frame, change the shape and color, or add a logo to customize your QR code.

4. When you’re finished, click Download to save your custom QR code.

5. After you hit Download, a pop-up will appear asking you to create a free account, but you don’t have to create an account. Just wait for the QR code to finish generating and it will appear in your downloads momentarily.

How to create a QR code with Google Chrome

You can use the Google Chrome app for Android or iPhone/iPad to create a QR code.

A Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides author can embed a link to a guide in a QR code to make it easy for operators to open the guide on Microsoft HoloLens. The link can open a guide or go to a specific step within a guide.

An operator can access the QR code in two different ways:

Printed QR code. Operators can use a printed QR code to open a guide and anchor the holographic content at the same time. This makes it easy for operators to launch a guide quickly by gazing at a contextual printed QR code attached to the area where they need to do their work, and anchor their holographic content to the same QR code.

How to create a qr code

Digital QR code. Operators can use a digital QR code to open a guide without anchoring the guide. Using a digital QR code is useful if you want to assign a guide to digital work instructions, or if you need a quick way for an operator to launch a guide when they don’t have access to a printed QR code. For example, you could use a digital QR code to include Dynamics 365 Guides in the flow of your existing online/web training modules.

How to create a qr code

With digital QR codes, authors must provide another anchoring method for operators to align their holograms.

Embed a link in a QR code

Create a guide link by right-clicking a guide and selecting Copy link to this guide.

How to create a qr code

Open a third-party QR code generator. Examples of third-party QR code generators include the following:

  • Your use of third-party QR code generators is subject to the third party’s terms and privacy policy. Please consult with your legal professionals before using. Microsoft does not endorse any particular third-party QR code generator and assumes no responsibility or liability for any third-party application you elect to use.
  • When you use any third-party QR code generator, the QR code generator receives access to the string of your guides link.

Copy the link from step 1 and paste it into the third-party QR code generator.

Generate the QR code. We recommend using the following settings:

Border: Minimum of 4. This number represents the number of small black square spaces (modules) around the border of the QR code. A value less than 4 will result in degradation in the detection rate of the HoloLens sensors.

Foreground color: Black (Hex#000000)

Background color: Hex#BBBCBF. This provides a 30% gray background to help improve the contrast of the QR code. This setting provides the best adaptability for a wide variety of environments and lighting conditions. If you have trouble detecting an anchor that you provide, try adjusting the anchor’s image brightness to match the average environmental brightness around the anchor.

Type: Select Text or Raw Text. DO NOT select URL. If you select URL, the site may incorrectly prefix the Guides deep link with “HTTP” or “HTTPS”, which will cause the deep link to fail.

These settings may not be available in all third-party generators.

Download the QR code. We recommend downloading as a JPEG file.

Do one of the following:

Add the digital QR code to a digital document and then make the digital document available to your operators.

Print the QR code and attach it to a physical part in the real-world environment where the work takes place.

When creating a printed QR code with an embedded link, make sure to follow best practices for QR codes when printing the QR code.

Quick Marketing Tips & Tricks

With the latest iOS 11 release, QR codes are back and being used for marketing by many. Check out our article, What Is A QR Code to learn more about QR codes. In this article, we will teach you how to create a QR code that automatically opens a video when scanned from a mobile device. We will use free tools to create the QR code and free video hosting using YouTube. Follow the simple steps to learn how to make a QR code that opens a mobile video. Either watch the video below or read the step-by-step article below:

Step 1: Upload Your Video To YouTube

In order for your video to automatically play when a QR code is scanned, your video will need to be a YouTube video. YouTube offers a free video hosting and free accounts. Simply create an account and upload you video to YouTube.

Once your video has been uploaded, you will need to grab the share link for the video. Simply open the video you would like to automatically play and click on “Share”. A box will pop up with a URL, copy this URL and save it for the next step.

How to create a qr code

Step 2: Create A QR Code For Your Youtube Video

For the next step, you will need to use a QR code generator. There are many QR code generators out there, however, our favorite is, a completely free QR code generator.

Once you have loaded up your QR code generator of choice, switch to the URL type and put in your YouTube video URL that you copied above.

Step 3: Test Your Mobile Video QR Code

Before you move on, it is time to pull out your mobile phone and scan your QR code to test it. Make sure the correct video does open up with you have scanned the code.

Make any adjustments needed to your URL if the QR code does not open up your video in the YouTube app when scanned.

Step 4: Download Your QR Code

Now that you have tested your QR code and everything works, you will need to download it. Simply hit the download button and an options box will open.

In this box, you will be able to adjust colors, sizes, error correction codes and more. Our suggestion is to keep all options at default and bump the size up to 1000px.

Finally, you will need to download your QR code. If using for print, SVG or EPS will provide you with a vectorized version that your print company can use for any print materials. If you are using the QR code on the web, download a PNG or JPEG version.

Step 5: Promote!

All that is left is to promote your video using a QR code. This QR code can be used on flyers, business cards, signage, trade show banners and more.

Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions or great ways that you use your QR code to promote your video.

Welcome to a quick tutorial on how to generate QR code in PHP. Want to quickly promote your products and services? Share a link, email address, or phone number?

A simple way to generate QR codes in PHP is to:

  1. Use the QR Code library, an easy way is to use Composer to download it – composer require endroid/qr-code.
  2. Next, use the library to generate the QR code.
    • require “vendor/autoload.php”;
    • use Endroid\QrCode\QrCode;
    • use Endroid\QrCode\Writer\PngWriter;
    • $qr = QrCode::create(“”);
    • $writer = new PngWriter();
    • $writer->write($qr)->saveToFile(“QR.PNG”);

That should cover the basics, but if you want more examples – Read on!

ⓘ I have included a zip file with all the example source code at the start of this tutorial, so you don’t have to copy-paste everything… Or if you just want to dive straight in.

Firstly, here is the download link to the example code as promised.

  • A copy of the PHP QR Code Library is not included in the zip file. As in the introduction, get the latest version from Github or use Composer to pull – composer require endroid/qr-code .
  • Make sure that extension=gd (or gd2 prior to PHP8) is enabled in php.ini .

If you spot a bug, feel free to comment below. I try to answer short questions too, but it is one person versus the entire world… If you need answers urgently, please check out my list of websites to get help with programming.

Click here to download the source code, I have released it under the MIT license, so feel free to build on top of it or use it in your own project.

All right, let us now go through some examples of QR Code generation.

Using the library to create a QR code is straightforward as A-B-C:

  1. Load and use the library. Doh.
  2. Generate the QR code.
  3. Output the QR code, the library offers 3 different “modes” of output:
    • saveToFile() saves the QR code into an image file on the server.
    • getString() directly outputs the QR code in the raw data string. Good for you guys who want to generate unique discounts or tracking codes for users, just point an image tag to the QR Code PHP .
    • Lastly, getDataUri() outputs the data URI string, for you guys who want to “directly embed” the image on the page itself getDataUri()>’/> .

Not going to explain line-by-line, this should be pretty self-explanatory – We can also set various options, add a logo, and even set a label on the QR code.

Lastly, just in case you have missed this one. QR Code can be used for many things other than sharing URL links – Email addresses, telephone numbers, SMS, VCards, Tweet, open an app (deep link), and so much more.

That’s all for this guide, and here is a small section on some extras and links that may be useful to you.

Quick Marketing Tips & Tricks

June 4, 2020 // Chris Edwards

QR Codes are making a comeback due to their ability to bridge the gap between physical media and digital media. To learn more about QR codes, check out our article which explains what a QR code is and how to use it in marketing. In this article, we will focus on how to create a QR code to push visitors to your website. We will also cover how to create a QR code that contains your contact information to easily share your contact via a QR code. QR codes can open many different types of content. A QR code can open a video and automatically play it, open a website, open an app, share WiFi access or save a contact to someone’s cellphone. Creating a QR code is a quick and simple process that anyone can do.

How To Create a QR Code That Opens A Website or URL

To create a QR code that opens a video, we will need to use an online QR code generator. Below, we will list out some of our favorite QR code generators. For this example, we are going to use

Step 1: Visit A QR Code Generator

Since we are using for this example, you will first need to visit with your web browser.

How to create a qr QR Code Generator Website

Step 2: Select QR Code Type

For this QR code, we are going to select “URL” as our type.

How to create a qr codeSelect “URL” as the QR Code Type

Step 3: Add Your Website Address

Next, we will create a QR code by adding the website address we want to send visitors to. Make sure this website address is correct as you can’t change it later.

How to create a qr codeAdd the website address for the QR Code

Step 4: Download Your Generated QR Code

An now you are done! To the right of the screen, you will see your generated QR code. Test the QR code with your phone. If it works correctly, then download the QR code.

How to create a qr codeTest and download your QR Code

When you download your QR code from the QR code generator, you will be presented with a few options.

How to create a qr codeQR Code generator options

You can change some of these options as you wish, however, we suggest leaving the error correction code at the recommended value. You can download your created QR code as an SVG, EPS, PNG or JPEG. The type of file you choose depends on where you will be adding this QR code. Most graphic designers will ask for an SVG or EPS file for print. These file types do require special graphic design software to open. PNG and JPEG can easily be used by anyone and would be best if you are going to be using this QR code yourself. For size, we suggest bumping it up to the largest size possible. This will allow you to get a clean, non pixelated image.

How To Create A vCard QR Code (Contacts QR Code)

To create a QR code that will save a contact to someone’s cellphone, also known as a vCard QR code, follow the steps above and select vCard.

A List of Free QR Code Generators

There are many free QR code generators that are easy to use. Here is a list of some of our favorite generators we use to create QR codes.

How to create a qr code

Rather than have a guest select your Wi-Fi network and then enter a fiddly password, just make them a QR code their iPhone can read. Here’s how to do it.

You wouldn’t want to put a QR code for accessing your network up on street corners like a lost cat photo. Yet when someone you trust comes to your house, giving them your Wi-Fi password is as important as showing them where the restroom is — if fiddlier.

If your Wi-Fi password is any good at all, they are guaranteed to have to ask you to spell – it – out – slow – ly. Or if your password isn’t any good, they’ll first have to figure out which of the many networks in reach is yours.

So instead of that, you can make them a QR code. Perhaps you could email it to them, more likely you need to find a way to show it when they arrive.

That could mean just waving your iPhone at theirs, or you could even frame it and have the QR code on the wall in your kitchen. As of iOS 11, iPhones have been able to read QR codes without a third-party app, so the odds are that your guest has all they need.

If they don’t know how to scan a QR code — or how to make the scanning much faster by putting a button for it in Control Center — show them this.

Then it’s up to you to make one. There are third-party apps that will do it, but you don’t need that, you just need Shortcuts.

How to make a QR code in a Shortcut

  1. Grab this Shortcut written by Stephen Robles for AppleInsider
  2. Run that once
  3. Save a copy of the result by Sharing it to yourself over AirDrop, Messages, Mail or more

If you’d rather try working out the Shortcut itself, Stephen’s one really does two distinct jobs. It prompts for some information, and then it uses that information to create the QR code.

So at a minimum, you could use the Ask for Input step in Shortcuts and have a user prompted to enter the Wi-Fi network’s name and password. That’s really all you need, that Ask for Input, and then Generate QR Code From step.

How to create a qr code

Stephen’s Shortcut does go further, though. Before you type in the network’s name, it asks if you want to use the current Wi-Fi network you’re on. And if you do, it then goes out and finds that network’s name.

You still have to enter the password, but it’s a lot handier to tap on a Wi-Fi network name than it is to type that too.

What you have to do next

Stephen’s Shortcut ends by displaying the QR code and giving you the option to share it. You could add a step that automatically saves it somewhere.

Or even that automatically emails a copy to anyone you choose.

What your guest has to do

When the guest is within range of your network, they can scan the QR code. Assuming you’ve entered the network name and password correctly when you were making the code, that’s all they have to do.

How to create a qr code

Point the phone’s cameras at a QR code, tap to confirm when prompted whether they want to join this network, and it’s done.

For the sake of a few minutes work in advance by you, they get straight on your network in moments.

Here’s how to set up QR Code tracking using Google Analytics:

  1. The first step is to add tracking code to the URL of your target response page.
    • Go to Google’s URL-Builder tooland load the target URL for your QR Code, your campaign Source, Medium, and Name. For example, let’s create a code with tracking for this post. I’ll use “mpblog” as the Source, “qrcode” as the Medium and “trackable-qrcodes-post” as the Name.
    • Click “Generate URL” and you’ll get a url with tracking code. Here’s the url for the example above, with the tracking parameters in green:
  2. With your new link in hand (or in your clipboard), it’s time to create your QR Code. Go to your QR Code generator. Select “URL” from the dropdown, paste in the url with the tracking code, and click “Generate.”

Fig 1: Generating a QR Code using ZXing Project.

  1. You now have a QR Code; download it and apply it to your direct mail piece, business card, billboard, t-shirt, or whatever else. When someone scans the code and visits your site, Google Analytics will track the visit and the associated source, medium and name.
  2. After you’ve tested the QR Code, go into Google Analytics and navigate to Traffic Sources > Campaigns. You can sort by “Medium” and search for “qrcode” to see your test visit (Fig. 2).

Fig. 2: Viewing a test visit from a QR Code using Google Analytics.

B) Using for Creating and Tracking QR Code

If you aren’t using Google Analytics, or just need a simpler process, the url shortening application is a great tool for tracking web traffic it redirects to your QR Code landing pages.

Here’s how to create a trackable QR Code using

  1. Create an account at
  2. Insert the target url into their url shortener. You’ll get a shortened url that looks something like:
  3. In your list of shortened urls, you’ll see the target url, with a link beside it for the “Info Page” for the url. Click on it, and you’ll see tracking information and a QR Code for the shortened url (Fig. 3).

Fig. 3: Creating a trackable QR code using

  1. Right click on the QR Code image to save it; you’re now ready to use it on whatever marketing piece you’d like.
  2. Now, whenever someone scans the generated QR Code, they’ll be directed to, which will count the visit and automatically redirect the visitor to the target url. This will happen fast enough that users won’t even notice the redirect.
  3. You can then use the reporting tool on your account to track scans/visits via your QR Code

There you go, there are two great (free) options for creating and tracking QR Codes.
