Themed Accessories

A few carefully chosen accessories can really help bring together any bedroom decor theme. From Paris throw pillows and Eiffel Tower figurines to themed wall art and picture frames, accessories can help you pull your Paris-themed bedroom together!

A bold Eiffel tower mural makes a great statement and allows for minimal styling throughout the room. We love how the puffy clouds and the wooden balloon give the mural an extra pop. Also, how cool is the ‘Amour’ throw pillow?!

Provence-Style Furniture

Provence-style furniture can also be used to get that French look in your bedroom. Many pieces of furniture with light colors and intricate carvings would work perfectly in a Paris-themed bedroom, from sofa beds to nightstands. You could even use a distressed white finish on some of your existing furniture for an instant update!

Paris-Inspired Wall Art

One of the easiest and most affordable ways to add Parisian flair to your bedroom is wall art. There are tons of great Paris-themed prints and posters available online, or you could even create your own with a few simple supplies.

Eiffel Tower Decor

If you’re looking for a way to decorate your bedroom with Eiffel tower decor, there are tons of great options available. From wall decals and posters to framed prints and figurines, items inspired by the iconic landmark add an instant French vibe to any room.

Mural Wall Art

Add glamour and create a dramatic effect by painting a Paris-themed mural over the entire wall! With this stunning mural art by Instagrammer Timree , your little girl can chat over hot chocolate in Paris without stepping out of her bedroom!

Fancy Light Fixtures

Paris has many nicknames, but its most famous is “The City of Lights”. From crystal chandeliers to table lamps to sconces casting a soft glow on the walls, adding Paris-themed lighting fixtures can help you add a touch of elegance to your bedroom.

Floral Wallpaper

Floral wallpaper and some vintage-style prints can add that subtle touch of Parisian charm to any room. There are tons of beautiful floral designs available, from traditional patterns like roses or daisies to more intricate ones featuring birds or butterflies.

Black and White Scheme

Here’s a feminine Paris-themed bedroom, all decked out in black and white with just a hint of pink. An espresso canopy bed gives the decor an instant touch of romance, while layered Paris-themed pillows add texture and variety.

Canvas Wall Art

Say bonjour to this Paris-themed bedroom adorned with chic canvas prints. There’s something about canvas wall art that brings elegance and style to any room. Also, check out the floral comforter! It has a perfect look for a bedroom staged with a romantic Paris theme.

Paris-Themed Bedding

Everything from plush pillows, comforters, and shams can help you create the perfect environment for sleep or lounging about in style. Try adding some Paris-themed cushions and an elegant bedspread for an extra touch of French flair.

France Flag Colors

If you want to inject a bit of French patriotism into your bedroom, consider using France flag colors as part of your decor. This can be done in a variety of ways, from painting one wall or the ceiling in the tricolor to adding some accessories like throw pillows or bedding in red, white, and blue.

Pink Galore

If you have a daughter whose fashion philosophy is pink on pink on pink, take your inspiration from this Paris-themed bedroom. With the cute mural art and pink bedding (complete with a comforter and lots of fluffy pillows), it speaks to the girlie girl in everyone!

Over to You!

Paris is always a good idea, they say. So, why not incorporate it into your bedroom decor? A Paris-themed bedroom doesn’t have to be all about the Eiffel tower and traditional French flair. You can play with a variety of styles, from aesthetic decor for teenage girls to classic English-style bedrooms that feature pretty florals or elegant furnishings. The most important thing is to make the space your own!

If you’re looking for white bedroom ideas then you’ve certainly come to the right place. A white bedroom is a classic choice, and an enduring favourite for both minimalists and colour-lovers alike. White is just so a versatile colour to decorate with, it’s great if you want to create a clean, neutral space but also the perfect canvas for brighter colour schemes. Plus, it’s the ideal colour for smaller rooms too (interior design 101) that need that brightness to feel more light and airy.

Be inspired by these white bedroom decorating ideas to kickstart your new colour scheme and you can find more bedroom ideas in our gallery. Starting from scratch? Perfect your bedroom design using our practical guide.

1. Choose Scandi style a white bedroom that never dates

The Scandis have got it just right: white bedrooms that feel cosy and welcoming. Looking for an easy formula for your own bedroom? Choose white-painted wall panelling, a deep pile rug or two and plenty of light-reflecting furniture. It’s a practical, easy to keep clean look, too, making it ideal for teen bedrooms as well as adult ones.

Anyone who has a tween or teenager knows that their kids spend a lot of time in their bedrooms. And for them, having a room that reflects their own personal style is an important part of who they are. Their bedroom should pay tribute to their adolescence but at the same time be sophisticated and chic. Let’s face it, you’ve worked hard to have the rest of your home look refined and cohesive so why now sacrifice your kid’s rooms? Of course, you don’t want that bed-on-the-floor dorm room look or even something straight out of the latest teen furniture catalog.

The perfect solution to update your tween or teenager’s bedroom is to start with a Decorist design project. It’s an easy and fun way to involve your kids in the design process without giving them free rein to go wild on their space. Together you will collaborate online with a friendly, professional interior designer to source the best of-the-moment home décor trends while mixing in those sophisticated, timeless pieces. It’s easy for you to set the budget and help communicate the goals and desires for the room.

Here are seven tips to get the perfect teenage bedroom. Now, your teen’s dream room is only a click away!

1. Don’t skimp on the headboard

Designed by Decorist

When it comes to updating your teen’s room, invest in a classic, quality bed frame or headboard. A timeless, good quality headboard will anchor the room and seamlessly scale with your child for years to come.

2. Add whimsical elements

Designed by Decorist

Try a hanging rattan chair that is both functional and playful. It’s a cozy little spot to do curl up and read, listen to music or catch up with friends. A piece like this keeps the room feeling young and playful while remaining stylish.

3. Make studying inviting

Designed by Decorist Elite designer Melissa Scheck

Create a space where your teen can do homework. A desk, lamp, and comfortable chair will be key for those late-night study sessions.

4. Include a statement piece

Designed by Decorist

Investment pieces such as dressers, armoires or statement lighting should be classic and versatile while keeping the playful elements to the textiles and wall décor.

5. Try an accent wall

Designed by Decorist

Kids love color so why not bring in a bit of drama with a graphic wallpaper or a bold wall color? You don’t need to focus on all four walls, instead just focus on an accent wall. It will be high impact creating that “wow” in the room.

6. Use bold and playful bedding

Designed by Decorist

New bedding is a surefire way to update a bedroom. Many times our designers love to start with a fresh, white duvet cover and then layer in colors with pillows, blankets, and throws.

7. Get a Decorist designer to design your teen’s room!

Designed by Decorist

Of course, the best way to pull it all together is to start a Decorist design project. It’s a fun way to share the creative experience with your kids and have them put their personal spin on their space along with your input and approval.

Even if you’re not allowed inside once you’re done decorating.

Your teenager’s bedroom may be among the hardest rooms in the house to design because you want it to spotlight and nurture their personal style and interests while still ensuring it fits in with the rest of the home. Plus, it needs to be versatile enough to grow with them through the precious years they have left at home. Perhaps trickiest of all, you want to avoid any nuclear meltdowns (from you and your teenager) over any decorating disagreements. Prevent any potential arguments and help them come into their own by using these teen room ideas from designers and cool kids as inspiration and guidance. From hip, over-the-top hangouts to more understated sanctuaries, you’ll find something you can all agree on ahead.

“Clashing is fun, and throwing patterns together is easy,” says designer Fawn Galli. The trundle bed in this teenager’s room is from RHTeen, but it’s given a personal twist with new upholstery in a cheeky fabric. The glossy white egg chair adds a crisp pop and provides an extra place for them and their friends to hang.

This bedroom by designer Katie Lyndon is the perfect example of how to decorate a space that can grow with a person. It has smart storage solutions with playful yet grown-up decor on display, a neutral color palette brought to life with fun prints and motifs, and high-quality bedding. For a similar feel, try mixing bold prints within a tight color scheme and make sure the details are polished—like these traditional sconces.

If your teens share one large room, consider two queen beds instead of two twin-sized beds if you have the space. The upgrade will make sharing a room feel a lot more mature and comfortable. Incorporate boho elements with a patterned rug, bright sheets and pillows, and rattan ottomans. Abstract photography is a chic, modern touch.

What teenager doesn’t love privacy? Give them a little extra with curtains around a four-poster bed. Not only will it allow for those weekend morning sleep-ins, but it also introduces some polished style. In this bedroom by Heather Hilliard Design, the zigzag bed skirt and striped pillow add just enough color to keep things youthful.

When decorating a kid’s room, always invest in classic staples and then have a little more fun with the artwork and accessories. These are a lot easier to swap in and out and can introduce just as much personality. A printed upholstered headboard and fun throw pillows will bring in a sense of youthfulness while modern sconces add polish, like in this room by Amber Interiors. Pro tip: Frame those posters and flags for a more refined feel that still puts them in the spotlight.

This whole redecorating started after our oldest daughter turned 14. With limited time for extra stuff due to running a very busy online home decor shop. I decided we would hit Target for some of the easy pieces like bedding. I was planning to go to Anthropologie but the distance is too far for my schedule. I’m the type that likes to touch my bedding before I buy. So let me show you how we updated our Teen Girl’s Bedroom Style- Easy Chalk Paint Recipe from pink to grey.

Pretty pink shabby chic style with custom painted furniture. I also custom painted this chandelier for something unique. I love finding vintage furniture to repaint. Lets just say that this addiction is under control, but my mirror addiction is not. My daughter was over the pink and wanted something a little more age fitting.

Ready for some Teen Girls Room Mirror Obsession? I just created this gallery wall in my daughters bedroom. I couldn’t wait till she came home from school to see this. It all started because I found one more beautiful vintage gold mirror to add to my shop. I love custom painting mirrors with chalk paint. With so much input from Instagram to keep these Vintage Gold Mirrors, I just added the option for custom paint. Now with my mirror collection growing and storage getting a wee bit squishy, I decided to create this wall of mirrors. I included a tall dressing mirror to the collection because every girl NEEDS a mirror like this, right?

When creating in this style, one can’t worry about the details. You literally slap paint on and walk away. If you add too much paint in perfection, you won’t get this crusty style. I just love this crusty word. If you know me from Instagram at HallstromHome, you know I use this word to describe much of my life. Crusty but Beautiful for a Teen Girl’s Bedroom Style.

Easy Chalk Paint Recipe

Ok so who’s ready for my homemade chalk paint recipe?

I use Plaster of Paris, water and a sample paint quart from miller paint store for $5. You can get you paint in a custom color match for those that have a favorite brand but don’t want to pay the price.

-Start with 2 Tbsp Plaster of Paris

-Mix in 2 Tbsp water and mix well

-Add 2 Cups flat or stain paint and mix extremely well. I use glass canning jars with a wide mouth for easy storage and use.

When I paint. I do not sand my items first unless it has a high gloss. I paint my product and seal it with clear paste from miller paint store. This product is much cheaper than the name brands. I add 1 Tbsp of mineral spirits to give it a smooth and soft finish on my products. Mix well tho. Please share this post with your crafty friends if they don’t already make chalk paint.

If making chalk paint isn’t your thing. I also use Dixie Bell or Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

Let me know if you have any questions. You can leave them in the comment section. I would love to hear your feedback on our Teen Girls Bedroom Style with Chalk Paint Recipe.

Now I will leave you all with a few more detail to this room and I hope you’ll join me again as the mirror obsession continues. Vintage Gold Mirrors make my heart flutter.

Just as adult decorating decisions are often triggered by a life change, such as a new baby or a major social event like an at-home wedding, your child may want to celebrate a personal milestone with a new bedroom. Right before starting middle school is a popular time to give the bedroom a new personality, but the desire may hit any time between about age nine to sometime in high school. Do your homework and you’ll be ready for this adventure whenever it arrives. The pages in this article provide a number of different decorating ideas for your teen’s bedroom.

With all of today’s product choices available in a variety of price ranges, redecorating a room can be a fun project you and your teen or preteen can share. Let your child know you support (within reason) his or her wish for self-expression through room decor and even an independent-minded child will turn to you for help and advice as well as funds.

On the ticklish subject of funds, you may already know that, while kids this age are painfully brand conscious, most have no desire for the high-end looks adults crave. Fun, funky, and free-spirited designs hold more appeal, and even kids who appreciate the finer things are likely to want a more unrestrained version of a traditional look.

If you and your child can come to some agreement about such major items as a desk, a bed, and window treatments, buy the best “real” furnishings your budget allows. Then, fill in with fun, low-cost novelties like beanbag chairs in jellybean colors, funky lamps, and dramatically colored bedding you won’t mind replacing when a new look comes along in a few years.

Painted walls are a practical choice at this stage of the game. Paint has a fresh contemporary feeling, and, better yet, it’s the least expensive, fastest way to make a big change in a room. You’ll want to tell your child that paint looks a lot darker and more vivid on four walls than in a tiny paint chip and that professional designers usually advocate choosing a color two or three steps lighter than the color you like best on the paint chip. That said, buy the smallest container you can of several colors in the running, and have your child paint an area about three feet square on one wall with each of the colors. Let your child choose the hue that looks best. (One big exception to starting with the paint color is if your child has already picked out a fabric. Then, you’ll probably want to suggest paint to coordinate with the lightest color in the fabric.)

Youngsters are trying on nothing less than their own self definitions when they embark on a room redecoration, so be patient. You can be a big help in minimizing impulsive decisions your child may regret without making your intervention into a power struggle. Try playing interior decorator with your child as the client: When a few choices have been identified, tape fabric and paint swatches and photos of selected window treatments, accessories, etc., on a large piece of white poster board. Your child will be able to see at a glance what works and what doesn’t. If you find it too confusing to pull all their likes together in a visually coherent way, keep in mind that, in general, preteens and teens want either a very dramatic room or one that looks as much like a studio apartment as possible.

If you have any extra money or ingenuity to spend on this project, use it to create as much storage as possible. Include both open/display and hidden, and, above all, make storage easily accessible if you want them to use it. This is one area in which little kids and big ones are pretty similar!

If your teen is older, you may want to consider how you’ll use the room once he or she is independent. If the room will become a home office, a daybed may be the best choice. If it will become a full-time guest room, you can go with a full- or queen-size bed with all the trimmings. Either way, each page in this article offers unique decorating ideas for a teen bedroom that will always say “welcome home.” You can find these pages here:

A Shabby Chic bedroom is really a bit of a mash up of a few different styles. It’s a little rustic, little farmhouse, a little glam.

All of that comes together, however, into a look that is undeniably shabby chic, when you do it right.

There’s a sentimentality to shabby chic style that draws people to the look. It feels collected and loved.

What is Shabby Chic Style?

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

Shabby Chic is feminine and romantic. If you share your bedroom with a man, he’s going to need to be on board with a lot of frills, flowers and lace.

A typical shabby chic bedroom is going to have a lot of white linens, white, chipped furniture with touches of pinks and florals.

But we aren’t going to look at just the typical shabby chic bedrooms. You can do shabby chic in a more subtle way and we’ll see a couple of examples of that, too.

10 Shabby Chic Bedrooms You Might Love

#1 Cleaned Up Shabby Chic

This beautiful bedroom is one of the more subtle examples of Shabby Chic. We’ve got the cozy white linens and furniture, but there’s no chippy paint to be found. The salvage looking headboard keeps this room in the “shabby” category, though.

There’s also a crystal chandelier peaking in from just out of frame and that’s a hallmark of a shabby chic bedroom.

The casual floral arrangement on the bedside table and the softly ruffled bed skirt are perfect accents for shabby chic.

You can find the details for this room on Tidbits.

#2 Soft Florals

The linens on this bed are a lesson in shabby chic.

First, the layers of texture. Ruffled bed skirt, small print floral sheets, waffle knit blanket topped with a romantic pale pink and blue floral comforter.

Add in the textured and patterned pillows and this is exactly the look you’ll want to emulate for a romantic shabby chic bedroom.

It’s a lot of different things coming together, but if you can keep the colors in the same family and muted, you’ll nail it.

You can find all of the details for this room on Sweet Melanie.

#3 Rustic Shabby Chic

Here’s another atypical shabby chic room. There’s no pink and not a floral to be found and it definitely doesn’t have the excess that you’ll see in most shabby chic rooms.

But the white linens, the ruffles and even the curvy legs on the furniture keep are definitely shabby chic.

I love it all set against that barnwood wall.

You can find the details for this room at Julie Blanner.

#4 Boho Shabby Chic

There are definitely touches of boho in this room and they lend a ton of character.

The dream catcher above the bed and those black lamps are not what you would expect in a shabby chic room, but they are the stand outs here.

So don’t be afraid to mix a little boho in. It works perfectly in this room from Hallstrom Home.

#5 Farmhouse Shabby Chic

This room has a lot of life in it. It is cheerful and has a lived in look. There are farmhouse elements, but overall that whitewashed wood wall and the pink accents keep things shabby chic.

All the small touches in this room add to the sentimental feeling that shabby chic should bring. It feels very personal to whoever lays their head here at night.

You can find the details for this room at Simple Cozy Charm.

#6 Colorful Shabby Chic

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

Bright color like this room has is very difficult to pull off in a shabby chic room.

This room achieves it because that bed is most definitely shabby chic and the pale blue walls keep the room from going to far over to boho.

This is a pretty little collection of colors and florals. It’s another great example of the not so typical shabby chic style.

You can find the details for this room on Houzz.

#7 Luxe Shabby Chic

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

Shabby chic looks like it’s been salvaged, thrifted, handed down. Usually.

This room is shabby chic, but it is not any of those things. This room looks expensive and I’m sure it was. But that mirror is luxury shabby chic. The little dresser, too.

There’s even some distressed paint on the side table. And those curtains pooling just a little on the floor adds to the romantic shabby chic feel.

You can find the details for this room on Houzz.

#8 Glam Shabby Chic

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

There’s something about this room that says Paris to me. Paris and glamour. I guess the glamour is coming from that mirror nightstand, but otherwise, I see shabby chic.

An iron bed is a great choice for a shabby chic bedroom. This one is absolutely beautiful.

My favorite part of this room is those floral pillows. They have a unique pattern they make a big statement in an otherwise quiet room.

You can find all of the details for this room on Houzz.

#9 So Typical Shabby Chic

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

This is the image that I get in my head when I think of shabby chic. Voluminous white linens. Antique looking chippy furniture.

Little touches of pale blue and pale pink. That rug, too, pulls all of those things together.

The big mirror in the corner with the ornate frame is perfect.

You can find all of the details for this room on Houzz.

#10 Dainty Shabby Chic

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

This wallpaper is so pretty. It’s a lot of floral for a bedroom, but the symmetry of the pattern makes it not too overwhelming. It would be very easy for this wallpaper to go the wrong way, though.

But in this room, everything else sort of steps aside for the wallpaper.

This look will take a little guts because wallpaper is a commitment, but if you love this, go for it.

Having their own space is important to teen girls. Their bedrooms are more than just their sleeping quarters. It is also their safe haven, sanctuary and dominion. Bedrooms reflect its occupants’ personality, it is often the showroom of their art and expression. A teenage girl’s bedroom can vary from sweet and delicate to loud and expressive. Some girls want to fill their rooms with mementos or makeup collection, while others will want a space where she can entertain her friends. Here are some of the most adorable and beautiful teen girl bedroom ideas and designs to fit a princess;

1. Sweet Gypsy

A delightful bedroom any free-spirited young girl would love! Walls of the lightest shade of mint green, bare wood floors except for a fuzzy area rug, crisp white sheets with colourful accents. Its beautiful bohemian accents – fringed white canopy, weaved hanging chair and white pouf, add character to the room.

2. Pretty Magnificent

Regal, stunning and luxurious. This magnificent white and burgundy bedroom is every girl’s dream! Its burgundy curtains match the pillows and cover. The tufted leather headboard matches the white bed end bench. A classic chandelier seals the luxurious look.

3. Elevated Bed

Manage clutter and make room in your bedroom by elevating the bed. A great solution for smaller rooms, the elevated bed adds ample accessible space. The side of the bed is used as storage shelves, while under it can be used to keep larger items, out of season clothes or even as sleeping quarters for pets.

4. Cacti Greens

Light, bright and pretty. The combination of delightful mint greens, crisp whites and pretty pinks of this bedroom colour scheme is cheerful and relaxing. Perfect for the girl who loves the cool and clean vibes of cactus, its prickly shape and wild beauty.

Minimalism is one of those design styles that gets confusing quickly. Often mixed up with modernism on its own, it’s actually much more than that — a minimalist space can be sleek and contemporary or even fully traditional, in the hands of the right designer. What matters most is the way the furnishings in the space are used — sparingly, very intentionally and with a full focus on the interplay of pieces together.

Minimalism also doesn’t have to be stark and colorless or cold and dark: on the contrary, minimalist spaces can use a variety of colors, from bright whites to bold blacks, to make the perfect design statement. As you’ll see in the images below, these rooms can run the gamut from light and airy Hamptons beach homes to sky-high penthouses and cozy, cottage-y apartments.

Bedrooms are perhaps the most challenging room to streamline, since this is the most personal, intimate space in the home. These are often rooms that can become cluttered with curios and tchotchkes (not to mention actual clothing), but with guidance from a creative design professional, minimalist bedrooms can be the show-stopping centerpiece of any home.

To get a better sense of the style and how minimalist bedrooms can work for many types of homes, we took a look at some of our favorite spaces by top designers. See how they made the style work across a wide variety of clients’ homes and embrace the aesthetic the next time you’re in the mood for a redesign.

An architectural detail such as a dark-paneled wall deserves attention. Make it shine by installing sconces high above a headboard for a trendy look.

A patterned wall designed by Kevin Isbell Interiors emphasizes this room’s symmetrical touches, from twin beds to playful table lamps.

Ditch the traditional headboard for a graphic textile look, as in what Megan Pflug, interior designer and owner of Woodhouse Lodge in Greenville, NY, created with designer Moses Nadel. “It underscores the lodge’s pared-back design and vibe,” says Pflug.

When in doubt, designing a room, like this one by Kevin Isbell Interiors, around two vibrant hues, like red and blue, can streamline the process of choosing furniture and decor.

Of course, you can settle for traditional nightstands, but why not mix things up by considering a low-profile console table instead? Spruce one up with your favorite bedside accessories, including an oversized mirror, petite table lamp and framed artwork.

Warm up a classic black-and-white color scheme with stylish decor accents, like a woven planter or wooden bench at the foot of the bed. Introduce additional contrast with a black canopy bed and patterned textiles.

Instead of using an end ladder, designer Cortney Bishop placed a small staircase in the middle of these bunk beds for an unexpected twist. “Our goal was to make the bunks feel built into the space rather than like freestanding pieces of furniture,” says Bishop. “And the full beds underneath can be pulled out should our client ever want to add desks as the kids grow up.”

Installing sconces on a unique headboard makes it even more of a focal point and saves bedside space. Stick to all-white fixtures to balance wood furniture.

Wallpaper can be used to mask an issue like a steep roofline
or a room that has many different materials or visual details.
“You can unify the room in a single color or go the opposite
route and envelop it in a wallpaper that is also visually ‘busy’
to disguise and distract,” says interior designer Liz Caan.

Bring a touch of sophisticated elegance to your bedroom with the addition of tassel hardware. It’s a simple way to dress up the most basic nightstand.

You can never go wrong with an eye-catching gallery wall, especially in a bedroom setting. Create a cohesive look with black frames that are perfect for displaying your favorite photographs, mementos, and more.

Give your space a cocoon-like feel by going for a captain’s bed. The cozy style is also the perfect way to experiment with coastal-inspired decor.

Make an impact without too much commitment with removable wallpaper. When you’re tired of the look, just replace it with a different pattern or paint.

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

Your bedroom is one of the most personal spaces in your home. It’s where you relax and recharge, so there’s no reason why it shouldn’t have your full attention. But before you even think of shopping to upgrade your bedroom, consider these helpful pointers to make your space as luxurious as it can be.

Incorporate a rug. Adding texture and warmth to your bedroom is one of the easiest ways to boost its style factor. Whether you’re partial to florals or understated designs, like jute, a chic rug can pull your bedroom together in an instant.

Display art. Show off your style with a statement piece of artwork, whether it’s a sculpture, photograph, or colorful painting. While it can certainly be displayed on a wall, leaning your favorite piece against a wall can be just as powerful.

Overfill your throw pillows. There’s something so luxurious about plush, overfilled throw pillows, which go a long way in transforming your bedroom from “everyday” to a bonafide retreat that emulates the most sumptuous of hotels.

Add a hanging light fixture. The boob lights have got to go. Replace them with a statement-making hanging light or a glamorous chandelier. No need to spend too much money—this West Elm Capiz Rectangle Chandelier adds a touch of drama and romance for just $320.

Rethink your nightstand. If you’re anything like us, your nightstand is a hodgepodge of essential items: Hand creams, charging cords, half-full glasses of water, quarter-finished novels. It’s time to rethink how that’s all displayed. Hide some things away in a drawer; display small items in a beautiful tray.

[image mediaId=’25f30b5a-b71d-47f0-9606-36e3abb77aeb’ align=’center’ size=’medium’ share=’false’ caption=” expand=” crop=’4×6′][/image]

Focus on the statement pieces. A dark wood bed frame; a gorgeous gilded dresser; a velvet arm chair—each bedroom has its own centerpiece, but make sure it’s the room’s focus. Don’t clutter the room with too much furniture, instead letting each piece stand on its own.

Keep the floor empty. Granted, this is more of an organization and cleanliness tip, but don’t let that belie its importance: A cluttered bedroom never looks luxurious, so keep the floor clean and orderly—that means no stacks of books and piles of extension cords, either.

Upgrade your hardware. There’s no reason to keep the default hardware that came with your dresser and nightstands (unless, of course, it’s already visually stunning!). Replacing hardware is a cheap and easy way to upgrade your room, and there are so many ways to personalize the look: Crystal, gemstone, copper, and so many more.

Reorganize your vanity. Just like your nightstand, a cluttered vanity can make your whole bedroom look messy. Now’s a good time to buy some makeup organizers, like these inexpensive stackable acrylic chests from The Container Store.

Add greenery. As always, the quickest and easiest way to upgrade your room from “average” to “expensive-looking” is to add some greenery. What form this takes is up to you: A large fern? Small potted plants on your dresser? No matter how, adding a few plants helps a room make the final leap to luxury.

Refresh Your Bed Linens

The best part of a cozy, pristine hotel bedroom has got to be the big, comfy bed. So if you’d like to recreate the hotel feel at home, start with a mini bed makeover. Jon de la Cruz, an interior architect and designer who has created multiple hotels and restaurants across the country, recommends starting with a new set of sheets that’s freshly laundered and pressed. “I always recommend top-quality crisp cotton percale,” he says. “Forget about thread count, rather, touch and feel the quality of the fabric and iron with some DIY linen spray kissed with lavender or rose essential oils, and you will truly feel like you’re sleeping in the lap of luxury.” To make your own relaxing linen spray, drop a few capfuls of vodka into a pint-sized spray bottle of distilled water, then add about 20 drops of essential oil. Fresh sheets plus a soothing linen spray? That’s the secret recipe for an incredible night’s sleep.

Cozy, inspired and most of all fun.

So you’re in love with the classic motifs of French decor, but crave a more relaxed look in the bedroom. Voilà—that’s where French country bedroom decor comes in.

It’s the perfect American twist on timeless European design. Fresh, fun, and unfussy are the words you’ll be using to describe your new bedroom retreat.

Maybe it’s because I am obsessed with French design, and gotta hold true to my KY roots—but this style is a personal favorite in my own home. Here are 5 easy ways to get a French country bedroom look that will have you saying “oh la la”!

1. A Bed Crown

They’re less formal than a full canopy- and the best part is you won’t need a whole new bed! These half canopies add a touch of elegance, and draw your eye up making the room look even bigger.

You can get a pre made bed crown, or go the DIY route with a tension rod and a box shelf. For fabrics, choose something that compliments your bedding, but doesn’t match exactly. White is always a great choice, but you can’t go wrong with other muted colors like blue, tans, and gray.

Bed Crown Ideas

2. Gallery Wall Frames

They’re classic, easy to find, and look great anywhere in the bedroom. Try placing them over the bed or over large piece of furniture like a dresser. They’re an instant focal point.

When searching for frames, opt for some with ornamental detail, and paint them relaxed colors that compliment the room. Then simply group them as a cluster together, leaving equal space between each one. You can also fill some with decorative objects such as flowers, or signs, but leave some empty to get that informal vibe.

3. Pretty Little Chandeliers

Dainty or rustic, nothing gives the room an instant French vibe like a petite chandelier. The trick to getting the French country look with these lighting fixtures is to have it blend in with the rest of your decor.

This isn’t meant to be the grand show stopper like those overwhelmingly large pieces in a formal ballroom. Choosing a chandelier in white, clear, or with really thin arms is a great way to get that simple yet refined look.

4. Vintage Bed Pillows

There should be nothing over the top about your French country bedding. It should look cozy, and inviting, but the pillows are definitely the fun part.

Soft cotton pillows with ruffles, and eyelets are perfect for presenting that well lived in vibe. Choose pillow shams that are more basic (hey you really have to sleep with em) but add a little more detail with the smaller throw pillows.

5. Muted Colors & Wooden Elements

As obvious as it seems from looking through these photos- the basis for any great French county bedroom is of course the muted color palette. But that doesn’t mean you have to stick with only whites and grays!

There are gorgeous muted versions of yellows, blues, even pinks, that’ll be perfect for a French country look. Adding wooden elements to the ceiling, or wall is a fun way to give the room some French country charm, without veering from your exiting color palette.

Many people around the globe call Paris their favorite city, and its sophisticated charm can be especially appealing for young girls. Whether or not you can afford a trip to the “City of Lights,” rooms can be decorated to channel that unique French aura.

Look for wall décor, clocks, bedding, lamps and curtains in a Parisian aesthetic. Blue and red are the traditional colors for Paris (they’re on its flag), but Parisian décor also uses a lot of pink, white and black, with the occasional teal accent.

Shop for things that have an antique look, like iron picture frames. Other Paris décor trends include silk, distressed wood, faux fur, flowers, script-style fonts or ruching. If it is eclectic or playful, it’s a go. Designing a Paris-themed room can be great fun!

You don’t need to spend a fortune on these things, and little touches can go a long way. Keep in mind that young people tend to change their minds frequently, so while a Paris theme might be “in” for a year or two, she might prefer something else in the near future.

Hence, these 29 lovely black and white bedroom ideas present the stretch of the monochromatic style. Whether it is white, bold or minimalist, intense, sumptuous, or striking, all include depth and contrast at its best. In particular, feature walls paired with headboards, beautiful covers, and floating beds are best to create the perfect area for relaxation and a good night’s rest. From city sleek to country chic, black and white bedroom ideas will usually be on style.

Indeed, we see black and white as an ideal color mix for the bedroom. Although it may not provide the room the warm glow that others shades like brown, beige, or wood do, the effortlessness of the mix makes a simple, classic, and tranquil look, which is actually what the bedroom needs to feel—calming and welcoming. Also, despite the fact that it might be basic in nature, a black and white bedroom can truly make an impression in many different ways.

The bedroom is where you frequently begin your day and end your night. That’s why the manner in which you feel and connect with the area could affect how you take on your undertakings toward the beginning of the day and how you relax and unwind at night. Therefore, out of the many number of rooms in your home, the bedroom might be one of the most essential when it comes to decorating.

Why A Black And White Bedroom Is Preferred

Ultimately, there are many color combinations to choose from with regards to decor, paint, and furniture for the extremely significant room. In that case, you could base your choices upon the assessments of interior designers, or you could accordingly decide to decorate your room with shades that you appreciate. For many, that means adhering to a striking, intense color palette of timeless black and white.

A monochrome palette is definitely a phenomenal decision for any room. From classic design plans to modernism trends in the 1960s and minimalist trends in the 1990s to present day—monochrome never loses its allure. In addition, black and white bedroom has a classic and timeless quality that appeals to many generations.

A black and white bedroom functions truly well when blended with the more muted hues of gray. In particular, an extraordinary idea could be to pick a gray-patterned wallpaper and a custom-made black headboard with a black floor light. At the same time, you can accessorize the design to have an incredible impact with a monochrome floral duvet sheet, a gray throw pillow, and a citrus pillow for a burst of color.

Moreover, for a hotel-style vibe to your room, go for pure white walls as a straightforward background and pick silk bed linen with oversized pillows and black silk pads. Finally, to finish the look, get black lampshades and bedside tables.

A black and white room is obviously an incredible decision as it suits both men and women styling. Also, include additional interest to white walls with a huge mirror that will also make the room size appear larger through its reflected area. Combine this theme with striped bedlinen and extravagant velvet black cushions to instantly perk up the room.

One of the things that has intrigued me most since moving to Paris, besides the beautiful architecture, the fashion, and of course the food, is how Parisians decorate their homes. It’s a mix of old and new, traditional design offset by modern, and always very chic and stylish, just like their fashion sense. So here are my top tips for recreating Parisian interior style and adding that certain je ne sais quoi to your space.

1. Mix it up. Mix old with new, different styles, as well as art and books, to create a space that’s distinct and eclectic à la Philippe Starck, France’s most famous interior designer. Of course some Parisians have the added bonus of living in a beautiful Haussmann building with period features, but that doesn’t mean you can’t recreate the style by mixing and matching flea market finds and placing them next to modern pieces of furniture.

2. Keep walls white. Paris apartments are notoriously dark (unless located on the top floor), so Parisians keep their walls white to maximize the amount of light. But if you do crave some color, create an accent wall like the one in the kitchen above.

3. Go vintage. Paris is famous for its brocantes (French for flea markets), and they pop up every weekend in a different arrondissement, lining the streets with untapped treasures. Parisians are always on the hunt for something unique, so when choosing knickknacks and curiosities for your home, do spend some time on online vintage sources or at your local flea market, to pick out something that will add individual style to your rooms.

4. Invest in a rug or two. A large rug is the centerpiece of any Parisian apartment floor. Although Paris herringbone wooden floors are pretty, the downside is that walking across them can be very noisy, so a nice thick rug is a good way of muffling the noise and adding color (as well as warmth). Go for something bright, like the orange rug in the apartment above, or something patterned, as it will offer a good contrast to those stark white walls.

French design interiors provide a stunning blend of sophistication that borrows from a variety of different styles. Incorporating bold new styles that blend seamlessly with more traditional designs to provide a chic and stylish palette. The style requires some focus but at the heart of this aesthetic is creating spaces that incorporate an original flair with small splashes of flamboyance. Here is some insight to nudge you in the right direction towards the perfect blend of classic and modern.

Tips for a French design interior anyone will love

Blend Styles

It is important to not stick to one time period while you are decorating, choosing different classic styles with more modern approaches that showcase your personality. Blend flea market finds with contemporary furniture in bold splashes of color that offset a variety of art and books. Use this space to be bold and loud, choosing oversize accent items that draw the eye to round out the room. Perhaps surrounding a fourteenth century full wall painting with streamlined furniture.

Under-Decorate

This may sound as though is flies in the face of decorating logic, but choosing to under decorate certain spaces creates a beautiful streamlined look that will wow your guests. You can choose to do this in a number of ways depending on your personal style. Leave some of your walls completely bare, with no ornaments or pictures. Or utilize simple and natural fabrics for draping (think raw linen, etc). These simple touches can be shocking to the eye while drawing attention to other pieces in a room.

Keep Your Walls White

While this look goes hand in hand with the previous tip, it is also an invention of necessity. Many French apartments are dark unless they are placed on the top floor and the lack of light does a space no favors. Due to this, white walls have been incorporated into French interiors to help balance the lack of natural light. ANother purpose is to maximize what they do get. You can always choose to incorporate a splash of color with a beautiful painting or small accent walls that complement the tone of the room.

Incorporate a Rug

Many French homes have a rug as a centerpiece for their space, which offers both beauty and functionality to classic apartment designs. While a rug can be the accent space for a large room, many people also dislike walking across the wooden floors that many French apartments come with. Choosing a bright or patterned rug will offer an amazing contrast to your white walls while also muffling the noise and of a wooden floor. Below you can see some French design interiors for real French style fans.

“French girl style” is a universal term; everyone knows what it is, and yet you cannot totally define it. This is the magic of French girl style — you know it’s classic and simple and chic, but there’s an element of je ne sais quoi that makes getting dressed more of an art form than a routine. However, there are key pieces that will help you achieve that undeniably chic French-girl style, no matter where you are in the world.

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

These pieces must be comfortable enough for leisurely strolls, layered properly for whatever weather changes might happen in the afternoon (nothing is less chic than shivering from the cold or sweating from the heat), stylish enough for the best possible occasion (you never know who is going to take your picture or where you’re going to end up), and classic enough to be in style from Coco Chanel’s first runway show to Choupette‘s last Instagram—those are some big ballet flats to fill! Here are the pieces for fall that will help you achieve that classic, comfortable, effortlessly chic style that the French are so famous for. Now all you need is a spritz of Chanel No. 5 and your own je ne sais quoi.

Hey there! Join us on Instagram and Pinterest to keep up with our most recent projects and sneak peeks!

I’ve made my kids a lot of pieces for their rooms over the years but this one, by far, got the most attention from my 11-year-old!

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

Like most boys his age, he loves his trophy collection. They can get really cluttered and I wanted to give him a cool space to display them. I came up with these trophy storage shelves and put chalkboard on the back of them so he could write messages or note what the trophies were for – he think this is really cool 😉 Mom points.

These are so simple to build and modifications can be made easily! Each shelf is 42″ x 16″ and I was able to build them for about $25 each. Here’s how!

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

I used 2 1x6x8 boards and cut 2 pieces at 42″ and 4 pieces at 14 1/2″ (this is for one shelf).

Next, I drilled two 3/4″ pocket holes, with my Kreg Jig, at both ends of each 14 1/2″ board.

Then, I attached a 14 1/2″ board to the top and bottom of on of the 42″ boards with Gorilla Wood Glue and 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws. The edges will be flush.

Before adding the middle pieces, measure for the trophies. I ended up making one trophy case with one middle shelf and one with two.

Add the middle board(s) with wood glue and 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws.

Finally, I attached the other long board to the trophy case the same way. (I spaced these boards 13″ apart).

Now to finish! I used one coat of Rust-Oleum Dark Walnut stain all over each piece. I wiped it on with a clean cloth, waited about 5 minutes and blended the stain with a separate clean cloth.

When the stain dried, I laid each shelf on a piece of 2’x4′ chalkboard that I purchased from Home Depot.

I traced around the outer edge of each case

and used my Kreg Rip Cut to cut the chalkboard to fit.

I attached the chalkboard to the case with my Ryobi 18V crown stapler (finish nails and a hammer will work too). Then, I went back with a clean cloth and wiped a little bit of stain around the edge of the chalkboard.

All done! Time to hang 🙂

How to create a paris chic teen bedroom

To attach the shelves to the wall, I used these french cleats that I purchased from Amazon. I use these all the time when I’m hanging heavy pieces. These aren’t heavy now but I wanted them to be secure with the trophies on them. (note – the cleats are not added in to the cost of the shelves). The cleats are super easy to install and they make hanging large and heavy pieces so much easier. You just attach one part to the back of your piece

and the other part to the wall. It comes with a little level and anchors. I found one stud and used an anchor for another screw. Then you just slide the piece on! It sits flush with the wall and its super sturdy.

The box below is the cleat that I purchased.

I love having a spot for his trophies and he loves that he has a “really cool spot for his trophies”! He brought his friends up to show them and was so proud (confession: he erased everything I wrote and moved the trophies around, to his liking, after I got pictures 😉 )

I have a few more ideas for this space up my sleeve and I haven’t shared the tutorial for the student desk or the giant picture above the desk! I’ll be back soon with those!

Mix generous armchairs with classic occassional chairs in the living room. Prop up gilt-framed mirrors against the wall for an informal feel and pull the whole scheme together with a textured rug. Use a giant clock to make a focal point above the mantelpiece and choose cushions with a hint of gold for added glamour.

If this is the look for you, don’t miss our shabby chic decorating ideas.

Choose tickings and linens for upholstery

Find similarly-styled armchairs and knitted throws at House of Fraser, cushions at John Lewis and a similar coffee table at The Decorator Source. The wall clock is from Graham and Green.

Bring a touch of feminine chic to walls

Complement a charmingly-faded table-top display with spectacular hydrangea patterned wallpaper.

Find a range of patterned wallpaper at Cole & Son, antique-style lanterns at India Jane and side tables at The Decorator Source. The candlestick is from Lorford Antiques.

Position a prettily-carved desk

Be creative with room space. Make a desk area with a painted table and a vintage chair, then soften a stone floor with a woven rug and decorate the walls with monochrome prints and paintings.

The desk is from Chelsea Textiles, and the vintage chair is from Pale & Interesting. Similar style rugs can be found at Sharland & Lewis. Paintings and engravings are stocked by The Decorator Source.

Opt for ornate bedlinen

To add detail in a white bedroom, dress the bed with layers of lace, fringed throws and heaps of crisp, broderie Anglais-edged pillowcases. Blend white with white in a chateau-style bedroom by layering textures – for example, crunchy crocheted cotton over smooth bedlinen.

The headboard can be found at Classics Direct, the cushions at The Conran Shop, Linwood and John Lewis. The boho crochet throw is from An Angel At My Table, and the blanket is from Lunn Antiques.

Display shawls and jewellery

A vintage mannequin is an ideal place to show off necklaces, evening purses and lace pieces.

Find a similar vintage mannequin at Vintage Style Mannequins.

Frame a window with shutters and blinds

Sew a homemade blind using an outsized gilded print on a linen ground. Check out our guide to creating your own ribbon blind. Complete the look with a pair of vintage shutters and a selection of linen and velvet cushions.

The blind is from Chivasso, and the gold ties from VV Rouleaux. Find shutters from Amy Perry, and a selection of cushions from House of Fraser.

Showcase items from the parfumerie

Apothecary jars are ideal for displaying gorgeous handmade French soaps. Collect vintage jars whenever you see them and turn into a display.
